Frequently Asked Questions
Medical Thermography is a non-invasive, no-radiation, no-contact imaging tool that is considered a physiological test. The highly sensitive digital infrared thermal camera (also known as DITI) converts temperatures and patterns on the surface of your skin into an image.
Your skin’s temperature and patterns are regulated by your sympathetic nervous system, which regulates body temperature and organ function or dysfunction. This can provide multiple clues to the current condition of the body and any imbalances that may already be symptomatic or may be approaching symptoms. The goal is to be proactive, preventative, and safe.
Medical Thermography is unique and different from other imaging technologies, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and mammograms. These are specifically considered anatomical or structural tests, as they look inside the body at soft tissue, bones, organs, and masses. However, they cannot diagnose a disease on their own. Blood work and/or biopsies are the only ways to confirm a disease diagnosis.
Women, men, and children of all ages can benefit from using Medical Thermography. The body is always changing and adapting, so Medical Thermography provides “real-time” information. The images do not lie. The interpretation is always key.
No. Medical Thermography is not meant to be a stand alone tool, but rather a complementary one. It is often paired with ultrasound (if needed) because each provides different information that can help provide more information to support further care.
Typically, no. However, we always encourage you to check with your insurance carrier to see if your policy provides coverage so you can prepare for any out-of-pocket expenses. Coverage depends entirely on the policy you carry, and you have nothing to lose by asking.
We do not accept insurance directly, but we will provide a superbill invoice that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
We highly recommend contacting us by phone so all of your questions can be answered up front. This allows for a more personalized conversation based on your individual concerns.
Appointments are scheduled based on availability. We do not accept walk-ins. Services are offered Monday through Saturday at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, or 11:30 AM.
All intake paperwork will be completed during your appointment. Please plan for approximately one hour. This includes intake, imaging, and a brief review of your images before you leave, helping to make your experience as comfortable and informative as possible.
You will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your appointment. Included in that email will be a link to our Patient Preparation Instructions, which we ask that you review prior to your visit. As your appointment approaches, we will send a friendly text reminder the afternoon before your appointment to confirm your visit. We know life can be busy, and our goal is to make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Your report will be delivered via email within approximately 5 to 7 business days following your appointment. You will also have the option to schedule a phone consultation with the technician to help you better understand your results. This is always encouraged, as the report contains a great deal of valuable information.
The images are interpreted by qualified BCCT's (Board Certified Clinical Thermologists) with 35+ years of experience including chiropractic and functional health backgrounds.
Because our approach to wellness is holistic in nature, we encourage as many natural solutions as possible.
We are not your personal healthcare provider, but we do encourage you to share this information with your team of healthcare professionals. The report provides helpful insight to support your overall care.
Ultimately, it is your choice whether to incorporate these recommendations into your wellness journey. Knowledge and education help empower you to make confident decisions about your health.
Once you have completed your baseline scan, your report will recommend a follow-up in either 3 or 6 months. This second scan is considered a comparative study.
This allows time for lifestyle adjustments and the opportunity to monitor for improvement. The recommended follow-up interval depends on whether there is cause for concern based on your findings.
Most commonly, follow-up is recommended at 6 months, but every body is unique, so recommendations are made on a case-by-case basis.
After your comparative study, annual scans are generally recommended, or sooner if you feel it is necessary, to continue benefiting from the information Medical Thermography provides.
